Back around Thanksgiving, in response to the federal government’s decision to withhold SNAP benefits from Democratic states, the folks at WMPG 90.9 FM put together a digital compilation record to benefit the University of Southern Maine’s Oakhurst Food Pantry – and Monday, March 9, will be absolutely the last day you can get it.

It’s called Local Motives Vol. 1. It’s available on a pay-what-you-want basis over at Bandcamp, and 100 percent of the proceeds, after Bandcamp takes its cut, go to the campus Food Pantry to support its continued operations.
Local Motives, Vol. 1, features cover art from Portland artist Diana Gonzeaux, along with 29 tracks from an astonishingly deep roster of local talent, including the likes of Weakened Friends, Dave Gutter, Euphemia, Britt Martin, Plague Dad, Whitney Walker, Little Oso, Vices Inc., and One Hundred Thorns, to name but a few, and it’s filled with banger after banger.
As the kids today like to say, it slaps.
So if you’ve been thinking about getting this record, or if you’re just hearing about it now for the first time and want to get in on it, go ahead and click this link and contribute what you can – but do it now because, like all good things, it’s coming to an end.
On Monday, March 9, to be specific.
BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!
Today is Bandcamp Friday! And because today is Bandcamp Friday, Bandcamp foregoes its usual piece of the action, so 100 percent of the purchase prices goes to the artist. Which means that your support will go much further today than it would normally.
So if you’re still reading, go ahead, mash this link and grab Local Motives Vol. 1 now, before it’s too late.
And thank you.
